Thera-Band Hand Exercisers
YELLOW - 1.5 lbs. force, RED - 3 lbs. force, GREEN - 5 lbs. force, BLUE
- 8 lbs. force, and BLACK.
(Force is the pounds of force to
achieve 50% compression)
Thera-Band® Hand Exercisers are specially formulated exercisers provided in a
progressive sequence of five translucent colors and in two sizes. They're used
for hand, finger and forearm strengthening, as well as hot and cold therapy.

The softer yellow and red models fill the gap between putty and spring devices
and they're not as messy as putty. Progressive resistance in different levels
of compression allow each exercise to be geared to the patient. Use the standard
size hand exerciser for smaller hands and the extra large size for larger hands
or for people who have limited hand mobility. Place a Hand Exerciser into the
microwave or freezer for hot or cold use.
If you are looking for a hand-exerciser of moderate difficulty -
somewhere between therapy putty and spring hand exercise devices - you need look
no further than this easily compressed, soft ball.
TheraBand offers a selection of hand exercisers in progressive resistances. Pick
the one most suited to your current hand strength and fitness. Then, as your
fingers, hands, and forearms strengthen, switch to a ball that is harder to
compress. The balls follow the familiar TheraBand sequence beginning with yellow
(extra soft), then moving to red (soft). Following red come green (medium) and
blue (firm).
Use your hand exerciser to strengthen your grip, improve coordination and hand
motion, even exercise your thumbs. Pop it in the freezer for cold therapy, or in
the microwave (heat in 5 second increments to a maximum of 20 seconds) for hot
therapy. Works great as a stress-reliever too!
Some hand exercise balls have a tacky feel, but not this one.
2" diameter soft 3# red ball comes with an illustrated instructional manual.
BLACK x-firm
Manipulating this extra firm, translucent ball will give your fingers,
hands, and forearms a solid workout. Work on honing your grip, building
dexterity, improving coordination and hand motion.

Thera Cane®
TEMPORARILY DISCONTINUED
NOT AVAILABLE
The Thera Cane is a self-massage device uniquely designed to apply pressure to
sore muscles and trigger points anywhere on your
body.
The Design
The Thera Cane uses two strategically placed projections and six treatment balls
to help relieve pain. A gentle, manually applied massaging action is all that is
required. The two longer rods can be used to provide leverage and an increased
mechanical advantage when the Thera Cane is used on the neck or u pper and lower
back. The owner's manual illustrates a variety of ways to use the Thera Cane
effectively over the entire body.
For successful outcomes, one must have proper instruction. Though the owner's
manual offers comprehensive illustrations for self-treatment, it is strongly
recommended each user obtain a copy of the Thera Cane video. There is nothing
like a video or DVD to show the user how to place their hands on the "Cane"
while learning how to move it to achieve optimum results. Users can easily cue
to the section of the video or DVD that is appropriate for their specific need,
e.g., shoulders, back, legs, etc.
How does the Thera Cane® work, and who is it for?
|

What is a trigger point?
Trigger points are tender spots that develop as a result of muscular injuries, strains, and trauma. When muscles, ligaments, and tendons become weakened, overstretched, or inflamed, tiny tears in the soft tissue can occur. As the tissue heals, it contracts, becoming twisted and knotted.
These knotted fibers restrict the blood supply needed by the muscle. To protect itself from further injury, the muscle "learns" to avoid pain and guards against it by limiting the muscle's movement. If not treated effectively, a cycle of increasing pain, muscle spasms, and loss of function can occur and develop into a chronic condition.
|
How the Thera Cane® Works to Relieve Pain
Pressure on a trigger point helps deactivate it, although the exact mechanism is not known.
Most likely, the massaging effect performed using the "Cane" helps relax the knotted area, normalizing blood flow to the muscle.
|

Who It Helps
The Thera Cane can be used by anyone, anywhere, anytime they want to reduce pain and discomfort. A program of heat or ice, gentle stretching and exercise is often recommended in addition to use of the Thera Cane.
